My name is Dennis Dyck. I’m 27 years old and work as a salesperson for Thomas Beton in Germany. In my free time, I’m passionate about football. I enjoy playing it myself and also watching it. I’m part of a team, and we play mostly for fun, but it’s also fun to compete against other teams.
I’ve been a salesperson for the last six months. Before that, I worked in the disposition department, planning daily activities for the plants. During my time in disposition, I got to know a lot of the customers. It’s nice to meet them in person now, rather than just hearing their voices. I enjoy the direct contact with customers and learn something new every day. My responsibilities include looking after customers, handling inquiries, sending offers, and so on. Our sales team in this region consists of two salespersons and two sales assistants.
On a typical workday, I start at the office with a coffee and check my emails. If there are any inquiries, I create offers. If there are no immediate tasks, I try to get an overview of the process. If there are orders from my customers, I make appointments to visit the worksites and meet them. Since I’m quite new, I focus on making new connections and networking to broaden my reach. I try to spend half of my days in the office if I have customer meetings, so I can manage inquiries still. In customer meetings, we usually discuss things such as the quality of the concrete, upcoming projects, past volumes, and generally get to know each other better.
I’ve been working here 6 or 7 years now, and I’ve been a salesperson for six months. I trained as an industrial clerk and worked in the plant mixing. As a trainee, I learned how to be a salesperson and worked in the disposition department.
For me, the new challenge in the region is exciting. We have a competitive market here, and we’re quite far from other plants in Germany. One of my personal goals is to strengthen the team feeling and establish the company in our region, helping it grow. Thomas Beton is quite new here in the region, and now that I’ve gotten this opportunity, I want to make the most of it.
