First weeks at Thomas Concrete Group

The first two weeks and the introductory phase at Thomas Concrete Group (TCG) and the trainee program have really run by!

Last Monday I stepped into the office on Södra vägen for the first time as Thomas Concrete Group's new trainee. I have been incredibly warmly welcomed by all the lovely colleagues and I can already see that I have become part of an incredible team of committed and driven people.

A shot introduction about me. My name is Eva, and I am born and raised in Öjersjö, just outside Gothenburg. The last five years I have spent at Chalmers University of Technology from where I have brought with me a bachelor’s degree in civil engineering and a master's degree in Industrial Ecology. During my studies, I was very involved in various student-driven engagements such as division committees and network groups. In recent summers, I have also worked with a construction contractor in the Gothenburg area and have thus gained practical experience from the construction industry. Before joining Chalmers, I lived for a year in Colorado, USA, where I worked as Au Pair with a family with three amazing children.

The first two weeks here at TCG have largely consisted of me meeting many of the functions that exist, both here at HQ and also at the office and factory on Ringön. I have now got a quick overview of how the different functions work so that I can then delve a little deeper during the different blocks during the trainee program.

My trainee program is divided into 8 different blocks:
1. Introduction
2. Marketing and Communication
3. Production
4. Product Development & Sustainability
5. Pre-Cast
6. Design
7. Economy
8. Three months abroad

So I've now finished block one. However, block 2 (Market) has already had time to start a bit. During block 2 I will get to work with, among other things, TCG's various social media, websites and take part in a film production, but you will have to wait until my next post to read more about that.

I would also like to conclude by thanking everyone at TCG for the nice welcome! I am very much looking forward to the coming year and all it has to offer.
