Ambitious goals for sustainability deliver results
Thomas Concrete Group publishes its Sustainability Report 2020

Sustainability is about balancing and weighing up the three aspects of sustainability: economic, environmental, and social sustainability. Therefore, satisfied employees, a safe workplace, and climate-neutral concrete are key focal points for Thomas Concrete Group. The results are presented in the new Sustainability Report 2020.
Clear focus areas, ambitious goals and continuous follow-up have all contributed to the development that Thomas Concrete Group has enjoyed in recent years.
Targeted work to ensure satisfied employees has resulted in a gradual increase in the engagement index, which is now significantly higher than the industry average. Earlier this year, the company won the Brilliant Future’s award ‘Employer of the Year 2020 – Construction and Manufacturing’.
Safety is of paramount importance in the construction industry. In addition to meeting official requirements, the company continuously introduces and implements new safeguards. In 2020, the LTI frequency rate (injuries leading to lost working hours) decreased within Thomas Concrete Group, which was an important improvement compared to 2019. This shows that the ongoing safety work and the safeguards being put in place are paying off.
The construction industry faces significant sustainability challenges.
“We have been working with concrete since 1955 and have offered climate-improved concrete since 2012. With our knowledge and experience, we have long contributed to the industry’s climate and sustainability transition,” says Karin Gäbel, Sustainability Manager at Thomas Concrete Group. “We have come a long way in the use of alternative binders within the Group, and we continue to look for new solutions that will enable us to offer our customers fully climate-neutral concrete by 2030.”
