When writing this, I’ve just returned to the Atlanta office after an exciting road trip! Over the past few weeks, I’ve had the opportunity to travel across Georgia, North Carolina, and South Carolina, visiting various parts of the company. It’s been an incredibly fun and insightful experience, and I feel like I’ve learned a lot.
Thomas Concrete Inc. operates around 80 plants across these states. During my time here, I’ve been involved in a project focused on the company’s shops—which are responsible for servicing all of Thomas Concrete’s trucks and other heavy equipment. It’s a part of the business that often goes unnoticed, yet it plays a crucial role in keeping everything running smoothly. After all, if the trucks aren’t properly maintained, they can’t deliver concrete. So, the work done in these shops is absolutely essential to the company’s success.

As part of the project, I’ve visited several of these shops, observed their daily routines, and participated in training sessions. I’ve spent a lot of time driving around, but I’ve also had the chance to see many different plants and shops—which has been incredibly fun and interesting.

Throughout my travels, I’ve met so many amazing people within the company. Everyone has been kind and generous with their time, and I’ve truly experienced the famous Southern hospitality. These travels have not only helped me better understand the technical side of the business, but also allowed me to learn about the shop operations from the people who quite literally keep the wheels turning. A big thank you to everyone who has supported me along the way!
Now that I’m back at the Atlanta office, I’m going to make the most of my remaining time here—mostly by going to as many baseball games as possible and indulging in all my favorite American foods that I’ll miss once I’m back in Sweden!
