The new facility is scheduled to open during the latter part of 2026 and will be co-located with Thomas Betong’s existing operations in Stäket. Its primary focus will be laboratory testing of hardened concrete for both internal and external customers in the Stockholm region, as well as providing technical support in projects and customer dialogues.
“Stockholm is one of Sweden’s most expansive markets, with numerous large-scale construction and infrastructure projects underway. By establishing operations in Stäket, we will be closer to our customers and able to offer improved service, shorter lead times and a more efficient handling of our samplings,” says Fredrik Eklöf, Laboratory Manager at C-lab, Thomas Concrete Group.
The new facility will be an integrated part of C-lab in Gothenburg, which started in 1992 and is one of the most frequently used laboratories in the industry today, with over 5,000 testings per year.
Collaboration between the laboratories will be important, with C-lab continuing to serve as the hub for research and development, while the new unit strengthens local presence and creates even better conditions for close customer collaboration.
C-lab’s operations in Stäket will offer impartial accredited laboratory testing services for a wide range of assignments. The customers include concrete and precast producers, contractors, consultants and material suppliers.
“Our strength is the combination of accredited laboratory testing, extensive technical expertise and close involvement in our customers’ projects. This provides quality assurance and technical support while helping to shorten lead times throughout the construction process,” says Fredrik Eklöf.
Initially, the new laboratory will be staffed by two concrete technicians with expertise in laboratory testing. The operation is expected to grow gradually as demand increases.
“This establishment is as a long-term investment in both our customers and the continued development of the region. By combining local presence with the collective expertise within C-lab, we can contribute to high quality and increased sustainability in the construction and infrastructure projects of the future,” says Fredrik Eklöf.
