Concrete has previously been supplied from the plant in Hallsberg. With the new plant in place, concrete will be produced close to the mining operation, providing greater flexibility and improved opportunities to meet the mine’s needs.
“We invest in solutions that create value for our customers. We have supplied concrete to Zinkgruvan from Hallsberg for many years, but with local production we can further strengthen reliability of supply and adapt production to the operation’s needs,” says Jonas Davidsson, Sales Manager at Thomas Betong.
The plant is designed to supply shotcrete, which is used to reinforce tunnels and enable continued underground development. Local production provides greater flexibility and improved conditions for the mine’s operations.
“Access to shotcrete has been one of our bottlenecks. With a concrete plant on site, we gain better control over deliveries and can work more efficiently in production,” says Andreas Suup, Mine Manager at Boliden Zinkgruvan.
The investment is the result of a long-term collaboration between Thomas Betong and Boliden Zinkgruvan and allows production to be adapted close to the mine’s day-to-day operations.
