Long Wharf in Gdańsk is known for having Europe's oldest preserved medieval harbor crane. After being destroyed during World War II, it was rebuilt in 1958 as a concrete and marble structure. Due to high tourist interest, the waterfront requires renovation to improve safety.

A project for this started last year and work is underway to dismantle existing parts and upgrade the sewer system and new walls. In October 2023, approximately 600 m³ of C35/45 concrete was delivered, along with 165 m³ of underwater concrete.

“Our concrete was delivered by waterborne transport through two bascule bridges. We had to be flexible in the planning, but it went well,” says Krzysztof Bagiński, Regional Technologist at Thomas Beton Sp. z o.o. The planned completion date for the renovation is mid-2025.
