70,000 m³ of concrete delivered for infrastructure project in northern Poland

Thomas Concrete Group's Polish subsidiary, Thomas Beton, will have supplied a total of 70,000 m³ of concrete for the completion of the ring road around Koszalin and Sianów for the major infrastructure project S6 in northern Poland. The contract is worth nearly 97 million euros and the project is expected to be completed in 2024.

Thomas Beton has been delivering concrete to various parts of the S6 infrastructure project since December 2021. The motorway will connect the largest cities in northern Poland, Szczecin and Gdańsk.

“We are very pleased that we have been entrusted with being part of a milestone in regional infrastructure development and the completion of the project”, says Tomasz Leszkiewicz, Plant Manager in Koszalin.

One of the project’s ring roads around the cities of Koszalin and Sianów has, due to complex and rare ground conditions, such as elevated groundwater, led to a redesign of previous plans. Instead of building under the railway, an 800-meter-long overpass has been constructed. To meet the project’s demand, Thomas Beton has installed a mobile concrete plant next to its stationary concrete plant in Koszalin.

The challenges due to complex ground conditions make our commitment even more significant

“The challenges we face due to complex ground conditions make our commitment even more significant. We have delivered high-quality concrete to ensure the success of the project, says Tomasz Leszkiewicz.

The expected completion date for the road and the additional road connection is set for June 2024. This will reduce travel time by approximately 30 minutes.
