Rotation 7 – Finance in Germany

We have received another update from our trainee, Anton Nordek, about his seventh rotation! He will continue to keep us updated throughout his trainee program. Follow along!

Since the end of April, I’ve been working at Thomas Beton in Germany, where I’ll remain until early August. As part of the trainee program, I’m spending a period abroad at one of Thomas Concrete Group’s subsidiaries. I’m currently based in Kiel, while Clara is with Thomas Concrete in the USA. During my three months in Kiel, I’ll complete three rotations:

  • Finance
  • Concrete Lab
  • Concrete Plant Investment Assessment

The first rotation, in Finance, has just concluded. During this period, I worked closely with Yvonne Weustenfeld (CFO of Thomas Beton) and her team at the company’s headquarters in Kiel. I was involved in various accounting processes and contributed to automating some of them. These projects were both enjoyable and a great introduction to the company, helping me gain a deeper understanding of its operations.

At the end of May, Thomas Beton hosted a technical meeting in Koblenz. Colleagues from various subsidiaries came together to discuss future R&D priorities and to share insights and experiences from ongoing projects. I found the discussions highly engaging and appreciated the opportunity to learn about the diverse initiatives taking place across different countries. As part of the meeting, we participated in a site visit organized by Meyer Bau to the Pfaffendorfer Brücke, where Thomas Beton is supplying ready-mixed concrete from its plants in Rhineland-Palatinate.

Next up is my rotation in the concrete lab.
Auf Wiedersehen!
