As part of our 70th anniversary celebration, we’re meeting some of the employees who have been our colleagues the longest. Read about their career journeys, experiences, and how the daily work has evolved over the years!

Say hello to Sławomir!

When did you start working at Thomas Beton Sp. z o.o.?

Back in the last century! Time has flown – I started at Thomas Beton in 1997.

What was your first role, and what do you do today?

I began as an administrative assistant, but after just four months, I became a plant manager. Since 2017, I’ve served as a regional manager, overseeing several concrete plants in northern Poland.

“The best part is when I hear people say, ‘They’re the ones with the colorful concrete trucks – great company, great people!’”

What does a typical workday look like for you?

I manage six plants and ensure everything runs smoothly – from sales and customer relations to material procurement and production. In short, if something goes wrong, it’s my responsibility, but when things go well, it’s thanks to my team! I also ensure strong collaboration within the team and act as the bridge between staff and company leadership.

What are you especially proud of in your career at the company?

I’m proud that Thomas Beton has played a role in transforming Trójmiasto (Gdańsk, Gdynia, and Sopot) – from dull, gray concrete to some of the region’s most iconic buildings. We’ve supplied concrete for projects like the Museum of the Second World War, the European Solidarity Centre, and the tunnel under Martwa Wisła. But the best part is when I hear people say, ‘They’re the ones with the colorful concrete trucks – great company, great people!’

Do you have a strong memory from your early years at the company?

I’ll never forget the first time a Thomas Beton concrete truck rolled through Gdańsk, and I was driving right behind it. We were delivering to our first projects, and I felt immense pride when customers said our concrete was the best they had ever used.

What has made you enjoy your work and stay so long?

It’s incredibly rewarding to be part of a city’s transformation – to see something take shape where there was once only gravel. But above all, it’s the colleagues who make the difference. Thomas Beton has always felt like a second home to me, and that sense of community and respect has been there from day one.

Meet Team Thomas

But one thing has remained constant: we’re still a family-owned company, and that means a lot to me.
