The new plant is strategically located in an area experiencing strong growth while also supporting operations in adjacent Greenwood.
“Newberry is an exciting market for us. The location between Upstate and Columbia allows us to meet demand in a growing area while strengthening our capacity to serve customers in Greenwood and surrounding markets,” says Mike Kortan, Area Operations Manager at Thomas Concrete in the U.S.
The new facility is a previously portable concrete plant. The equipment has been adapted for permanent operation, including the installation of fixed catwalks.
The plant is expected to be very successful once operations are fully established. The production of ready-mix will primarily serve residential and light commercial construction, though the facility also has the capability to supply larger industrial and infrastructure projects in the region.
“We look forward to serving a new and growing market while continuing to support our existing customers who operate in the area,” says Mike Kortan.
