The Sustainability Report summarizes the Group’s sustainability efforts in 2025 and highlights, among other things, the positive development of low-carbon concrete, the development of alternative binders, as well as how circular solutions, digitalization, safety, and employee engagement contribute to an increased focus on sustainability.
During the year, deliveries of THOMAGREEN® – the Group’s low-carbon emission products – increased and in 2025 the use of alternative binders rose to 32 percent of the total share of binders. At the same time, several additional initiatives were carried out to reduce the climate impact of construction projects.
One central part of the report is the work to reduce the climate impact of concrete. Since cement accounts for approximately 90 percent of concrete’s carbon footprint, Thomas Concrete Group continues to develop products with alternative binders to minimize the user of traditional cement, and to optimize the composition of concrete.
– The construction industry is facing a necessary transition toward climate neutrality. That transition needs to happen faster. Low-carbon concrete is the most effective measure to reduce climate impact within the construction sector, says Karin Gäbel, Chief Sustainability Officer at Thomas Concrete Group.
During Sustainability Week, which starts on May 4, concrete examples from across the Group are shared, ranging from major advances to smaller everyday improvements. The purpose is to show what sustainability means in practice, inspire one another and strengthen the shared commitment across the Group.
– Sustainability is not a side project for us. It is a natural part of everything we do. During the Sustainability Week, we want to pause and place extra focus on how we work with sustainability in our daily operations, says Karin Gäbel.
