On Lilla Essingen in Stockholm, the Fotogenköket project includes 37 exclusive condominiums built to high sustainability standards. Thomas Betong is supplying filigree slabs, double walls, and turning walls from the plant in Heby, together with sandwich walls, curved balconies, and columns in white cement and white pigment from Scanbet.

The island of Lilla Essingen in Stockholm has a rich history. Nature and residential areas coexist with a varied mix of industrial buildings. This is where Lux AB, later Electrolux, started its vacuum cleaner production. The Primus factory was also located here, and in 1930 more than 500 people worked on producing Primus stoves.

In the area where the former Primus factory once stood, on the western side of Lilla Essingen, a residential project with 37 exclusive condominiums is now under construction. The project, also known as Ljusablick, enjoys a prime location overlooking Lake Mälaren and was designed by Hermansson Hiller Lundberg Arkitekter on behalf of Patriam. The project’s ambition is to achieve Nordic Swan Ecolabel certification.

Precast solutions from our plant in Heby

For the project, Thomas Betong is delivering 4,850 m² of filigree slabs, 1,860 m² of double walls, 1,000 m² of turning walls, and 600 m² of balconies from the plant in Heby to the customer Bygg R1. In addition, products are also being supplied by Scanbet.

Walls and balconies in white cement

“What makes this project special is the building design, with pilasters that stand out through inverted radii. The sandwich walls, curved balconies, and columns are produced in white cement and white pigment by our sister company Scanbet. The sandwich walls also include integrated terrazzo and matrices,” says Johan Westlund, Technical Sales Manager for Precast at Thomas Betong.
