The Ornitologen project in Lund is being built with a strong focus on sustainability. Solar panels will be installed on the rooftops. Rainwater to be used for irrigation will be collected, and excess heat from the cold rooms and freezers in the grocery store in one of the buildings will be used for heating. The bricks from the demolition of the old buildings that are now being replaced will also be taken care of, cleaned, and then reused in other constructions.
The architects behind the project are Kanozi, who have considered both the surrounding environment and the existing buildings in the area. LKF is also keen on preserving the existing trees and complementing them with new trees of varying sizes.
Construction of Ornitologen began in the autumn of 2023, and the first precast elements were delivered to the customer Serneke in late autumn.
“We will deliver a total of over 20,000 m² of flat slabs and shell walls to our customer Serneke. In addition, we will also deliver 850 m² of balconies, as well as composite beams, columns, a grand staircase, and courtyard slabs in HDF. All of our precast plants will be involved in the deliveries to Lund. We are also the frame coordinators, thus providing a comprehensive solution for the customer”, says Waadi Jedid, project manager at Thomas Betong.
