My name is Anton Nordek, and I am one of Thomas Concrete Group’s two trainees for the year 2024/2025. The trainee program started in mid-August, and we received a warm welcome from Team Thomas. The first two weeks consisted of an intensive introduction program where we had the opportunity to meet several people from the group’s various operations and hear about what they do.
The trainee program spans a year and consists of several rotations. The idea behind the program and the different rotations is to get an understanding of the group’s various operations while also getting the chance to meet and get to know many colleagues. The program is also tailored to individual interests, and my program for the coming year looks like this:
- Marketing and Communication
- Ready-Mixed Concrete
- Precast Concrete Production
- Product Development
- Sustainability
- Precast Concrete Design / Sales / Production
- Finance
- Rotation Abroad
My first rotation of the trainee program, which has now come to an end, has been in the group’s marketing and communications department. In marketing and communications, I have worked with Sofia Arvidsson Schultz and Louisa Thomas and followed their daily work. It has been a fun period where I have had the chance to gain insight into daily branding works, launch press releases, and participate in various meetings. The tasks in marketing and communications are very varied, and things can change quickly in terms of what needs to be done.
In addition to following the daily work in the department, my main project has been to lead the sustainability report for 2024. The sustainability report includes material from all subsidiaries, which has meant that I have had a lot of contact with colleagues in the USA, Poland, and Germany and learned about their operations.
The rotation has been very enjoyable and has consisted of many aha moments regarding communication that I had never reflected on before. One of the most fun things during the period has been being involved in the press releases. It has felt like being at the center of events, and it has been fun to see the positive feedback of the news.
The icing on the cake was when we launched the updated version of MyConcrete and celebrated with cake afterward. In my opinion, every press release should be celebrated like that!

The next rotation is at Ready-Mixed Concrete division, stay tuned! // Anton
