Rotation 6 – Finance Department

We have received another update from our trainee, Clara Ivarsson, about her sixth rotation! She will continue to keep us updated throughout her trainee program. Follow along!

As one of my final trainee rotations, I have now spent about three weeks in the Finance department. My trainee colleague Anton and I during this rotation split our time between the finance department for Thomas Betong and the Thomas Concrete Group. It has a lot of fun and very interesting to gain insight into both!

For the unofficial first day of the rotation we got to go to KTH in Stockholm, a Swedish University, with Thomas Concrete Groups CSO Karin Gäbel. There we held a so called “Lunch-lecture” for students on low-carbon concrete and its role in future construction. It was super fun meeting students and talking on this subject together.

Then at the finance departments we got to spend our weeks with participating in consolidations, year-end closings, follow-up meetings, and much more. Additionally, we got to help out with some processing of invoices, target settings for some business units, and other fun tasks. Since I haven’t worked much with finance before, these weeks have been very useful and informative. During this period, we also received several basic “lectures” of important finance topics such as for example accounting, which I really appreciated and found very useful.

A big thank you to everyone in the finance departments who took such good care of us! When this post is published, I will have just started my rotation at Thomas Concrete Inc in Atlanta, USA. Here, I will spend three months for my final trainee period!

Here are pictures of the amazing Anette, Martin, and Johan from the finance department.
