Say hello to Andreas Ahl!
Who are you?
I am Andreas Ahl, 29 years old, and I would say that I am a meticulous, cheerful, and positive person. I live in Kil, just outside Karlstad in Sweden. In my spare time, I like to fix things with the house and meet family and friends. I also try to stay active when I can!

Tell us about your work-role
I am the Plant Manager for the Skåre plant, which is located just outside Karlstad. In Skåre, there are two mixers, and one of the mixers is in a precast-plant located in the same area. We mix a lot of small batches for that plant every day, so for me, it is important to have a close collaboration with that company and the casting teams there to ensure everyone is satisfied. There is also a lot to keep track of with the maintenance of the plant and similar tasks. Benjamin, who also works in Skåre, and I have been friends for a long time, so we have a very good collaboration and help each other here.
In addition to being the Plant Manager in Skåre, I also help run the Karlstad plant, so I travel a lot between the two. I also handle much of the digital strength measurement in this area, from setting up the wires to monitoring and invoicing.
What does a typical workday look like for you?
No day is the same! I usually start my days in the Karlstad plant, then I go where I am needed to provide support. If you don’t see me at a plant in our area, I am probably out on-site testing or installing digital strength measurement at a construction site. When I have some spare time, I like to spend it at the computer to stay updated on upcoming castings, incoming invoices, and continuously check the plant’s self-inspection plan to see if anything needs to be done.
How long have you been at Thomas Betong?
I started working full-time here in October 2015, when I was 20 years old, as a process operator in Karlstad. In April 2020, I became the Plant Manager there, and at the turn of the year, I switched to my current plant in Skåre.
What is the best thing about being a part of Team Thomas and working at Thomas Betong?
The colleagues! It is probably the most common answer, but we really have a great team spirit here, and we support each other. You can always call and ask anyone, and they will help – and I really like that. I also think it is fascinating that you will never know everything about concrete, there is always something new, and there are always things to learn.
