Say hello to Scott Senter!

When did you start working at Thomas Concrete Inc.?

I started in 1989.

What was your first role, and what is your role today?

I began as a trainee and assistant manager at the plant in Suwanee. Today, I serve as Vice President of Operation Services at Thomas Concrete Inc.

“There’s something truly special about a family-run business.”

What does a typical workday look like for you?

I focus on optimizing our plants and vehicle fleet, enhancing the use of our digital tools, and supporting standardized work practices across Thomas Concrete.

Tell us a little about yourself.

I’m 57 years old, live in Gainesville, Georgia, am married, and have a daughter and two grandchildren.

What is something you’ve been especially proud to be part of during your career at the company?

I’m proud that Thomas Concrete in Atlanta has retained its name, while many other companies in the industry have changed theirs multiple times.

Share a memorable moment from your early years at the company.

When I started, we answered the phone with ‘Ben Hill/Bowen Concrete.’ In January 1990, we switched to ‘Thomas Concrete,’ and we’ve never looked back.

Share a memorable moment from your time at the company.

I’ve had the privilege of working alongside several family members, and over the years, I’ve also made lifelong friends.

What has made you enjoy your work and stay with the company for so long?

Although I trained as an accountant, I quickly realized I preferred early mornings, wearing jeans and boots, and being part of Atlanta’s growing construction industry. Working for Martin and Jan Thomas in a family-owned company has been a unique and rewarding experience—there’s something truly special about a family-run business.
