Say hello to Tracy!
When did you start working at Thomas Concrete Inc.?
I began working for Thomas Concrete in 1997, right after earning my commercial driver’s license and professional certification.
What was your first role, and what is your current position?
My first role was as a concrete truck driver, delivering concrete to various construction sites. Today, I work as a dump truck driver.
“At the end of the day, I feel a sense of accomplishment and peace, knowing I’ve done my part.”

What does a typical workday look like for you?
As a dump truck driver, I’m responsible for transporting raw materials like stone and sand from the quarry to the plant, where the concrete is produced.
Tell us a bit about yourself.
I’m 52 years old and live in Atlanta, Georgia. I moved here from Cleveland, Mississippi, where I grew up. I enjoy walking, working out, cooking, and spending time with loved ones. People often tell me that my smile brightens their day.
Share a memorable moment from your early years at the company.
I discovered Thomas through the Women in Construction program at Goodwill. That’s where I earned my commercial driver’s license and certification, and then began my career with Thomas Concrete. I vividly remember how proud I felt when I completed the training and found a secure, stable career path.
How would you describe the company when you first started? What’s the biggest change since then?
When I started, it felt like a small, family-run business. The colleagues I worked with early on were incredible mentors who took me under their wing and taught me how to succeed in the role. I truly appreciated that. The company has grown significantly since then, and adapting to new structures and workflows has been a challenge. But I’ve managed, and I still feel like a part of the Thomas family.
What has made you enjoy your work and stay with the company for so long?
I’ve really valued the opportunity to meet so many different people through my job. I’ve also built strong working relationships with both managers and colleagues over the years—we’ve been like a family. I enjoy having the autonomy to manage my work and get things done my way. At the end of the day, I feel a sense of accomplishment and peace, knowing I’ve done my part.
