Prefabricated solutions from Thomas Betong create 1,000 new homes in Oslo
In the old freight area at Grefsen Stasjon just outside Oslo city center, a large residential project began in 2011. Now the project is almost completed, and the developer JM Norge AS has built 19 blocks with a total of over 1,000 apartments.
Grefsen Stasjon is located on a plateau with a beautiful view over Oslo. To create variety in the area, the houses are built in different styles. The tallest buildings create a backdrop towards the railway and the busy road to the north. To the south, the houses are lower and open up towards green areas. The entire project will be completed in 2023, and most of the apartments have already found their owners.
Early in the project, Thomas Betong offered several different precast solutions.
“We contacted JM Norge and offered slab floors, shell walls, balconies, and stairs. Several of our plants have been involved in the deliveries”, says Ann Helen Høidal, project manager at Thomas Betong.
Communication and good contact points are crucial
Between 2013 and 2022, large quantities of precast were delivered to Grefsen Stasjon, and during all that time, Thomas Betong’s cooperation with JM has worked very well.
– Establishing good contact points and effective communication is crucial for such large projects. JM has delivered drawings and schedules well in advance, which has made it easy for us at Thomas Betong to plan the deliveries. JM Norge has had incredible accuracy regarding schedules, which greatly facilitates us as a supplier, concludes Hans Forss, responsible for seles and project manager for the Norwegian market.
