Who are you?
My name is Bernd Hamm. I am 42 years old and live in Rhineland-Palatinate, Germany. In my free time, I enjoy going for walks, jogging, and going to the gym when the weather is bad.

Tell us about your work-role
I work as an operations manager, and my role is to ensure the smooth running of production. This includes supporting mixing plant operators with production issues, training staff, operating the mixing plants when needed, overseeing materials management processes, and ordering production supplies and spare parts. In the Rhineland-Palatinate region, I am responsible for four plants.
What does a typical workday look like for you?
No two days are the same. I plan my schedule the day before. When I arrive at a plant, I start by checking material stock levels and comparing them with the production plan for the day to avoid shortages. I then discuss the day’s and upcoming production with the mixing plant operator to plan staffing and material deliveries. After that, I handle administrative tasks such as requesting quotes, placing orders, and checking invoices. Together with the central dispatch team, we plan staffing for plants and vehicles and create the deployment plan for the next day. We deliver concrete to construction sites, transport cement and aggregates to the plants, and deliver Thomabloc blocks to customers. I usually visit two plants per day.

I joined Thomas Beton in July 2025 after gaining 18 years of experience in the industry. I was looking for a new professional challenge.
